Review: Bulleit 10 Yr. Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey ($40)

The basic Bulliet Bourbon and rye whiskey offerings are pretty solid, and I recommend them for quality at the price points. As for the 10 year old Bourbon, I keep going back to this bottle and keep getting distracted by the strong plasticene, aldehydic notes that seem to compress the bouquet and overwhelm all the should-be sexy aged notes of a 10 year old Bourbon. This bottle is proof that older isn't always better when it comes to Bourbon. You almost get the feeling like the barrels that were put out to pasture were the ones that the company hoped would somehow resolve themselves, but that never really happened. Jumble them all together with an age statement and this is the result: a whole lot of just ok. In the meantime all of the younger bourbons just get better and better. (82 Points)
