Review: Goldeneye Split Rail Vineyard Pinot Noir Anderson Valley ($88)

2018 Goldeneye Anderson Valley Pinot Noir Split Rail VineyardThis single vineyard offering from the chilly western edge of Anderson Valley perfectly marries Duckhorn's plush winemaking style with precise, cool climate fruit from an excellent vintage. The nose is bright and juicy with fresh blueberry, pomegranate and raspberry fruit and a subtle pennyroyal herb note. Seconds later comes a lavish mix of cinnamon, anise, and allspice notes giving the profile lots of depth and complexity. Only 350 cases made. (95 Points)

Review: Goldeneye 2017 Split Rail Vineyard Pinot Noir Anderson Valley ($86)

This Split Rail bottling from Goldeneye is far from cheap, but it's also spectacularly complex and delicious. The nose is fully opened up with expressive, gorgeous, red currant, plum and cherry fruit notes, coriander spice, white pepper, and cinnamon notes. It's silky and fresh on the palate with a continuation of those lovely spice notes that carry through the very long finish. Split Rail vineyard has 16 blocks planted to 9 different clones of Pinot Noir and is located in the center of Anderson Valley. Only 348 cases produced. (95 Points)
