Calera 2017 Selleck Vineyard Pinot Noir Mt. Harlan CA |
This wine is as charismatic as Magnum P.I.. Jovial, serious, smooth, and full of beautiful California fruit. The hue is lucid, transparent crimson with a slight blue rim, and it shows aromas of red currants, raspberries and blueberries, plus a bit of coriander spice and a nice lifted limestone note. It is very much a new world wine to be sure, but it does have some elegance, and it is irresistibly delicious as an expensive wine should be. This wine is beautiful now, but it should age well for a few years. Only 158 cases produced from this 4.8 acre vineyard with limestone-rich soil planted in 1975. (94 Points)
