Review: MacRostie 2017 Dutton Ranch Chardonnay Russian River Valley ($46)

I've said it before and I'll say it again - MacRostie's wines have improved so much in the past ten years that it's become one of my very favorite Sonoma County brands. The Sonoma Coast Chardonnay is a reliable gem, the Pinots are graceful and delicious, and several of the other single vineyard wines are superb.

The '17 Dutton Ranch Chardonnay is loaded with typical Dutton stone fruit flavors and is rich on the palate, but there's also a flinty, reductive note that's quite reminiscent of the Burgundies of Leflaive. This is certainly not a cheap wine - Dutton Ranch fruit isn't cheap - but it definitely delivers (94 Points)
