Review: Lucia 2019 Soberanes Vineyard Syrah Santa Lucia Highlands ($60)

Santa Lucia Highlands can do very well with Syrah, and the Pisoni family certainly has access to some of the best vineyards in the region. This lovely red is still a little tight and might need another year or two before the flavors really come together. It's silky on the palate, with compressed notes of mocha, iodine, boysenberry, tart raspberry, and licorice. A little aeration does it well, and it shows a lot of complexity with a little patience and a lot of swirling around. (90 Points)
