Cuvaison Mariafeld Pinot Noir Carneros, Napa Valley. |
Here I sit on July 3rd trying to review a very fine Pinot Noir from distinguished, even historically important Carneros winery Cuvaison while all hell breaks loose all around me. This is, after all, fireworks season in Oakland, which stretches from roughly Memorial Day through Labor day, but as I write this, we are definitely in the thick of it. (Ka-blam! sizzle, sizzle). This single clone bottling (I guess from what I'm reading is the Mariafeld clone (BOOOM) (Cat runs upstairs to hide) which I haven't really heard of so far, (POW, POW, POW, POW, POW), OK, pretty sure that wasn't gunfire.... back to typing... has deep, focused black fruit, (KA-BLAM!!) MUST BE ONE OF THOSE M-1000's the papers keep talking about. This is definitely one of the nicest Pinot Noirs I have had in the last few months (BLAM!! SIZZLE, sizzle, KA-BANG!!) Highly recommended.
