This wine isn't as cheap as it used to be, which wasn't really cheap, it just seemed like it. The wine cost around $40 eight or ten years ago, It still offers good value compared to some other Napa Cabs, and I just love it every vintage. Yeah, it's a little bit like Okland real estate.
What's so great about it? Amazing layers of aromas and flavors, good structure, and it's not too sappy and sweet. Chappellet's fruit from the rugged Pritchard Hill zone of Napa also lends some nice forest scrub notes that add a gorgeous spicy, herbaceous note. It smells of black currants, madrone, sage, and raspberry.
The wine is supple on the palate with a bit of grip on the finish. I wouldn't mind a bit more tannin, as this wine is worthy of aging for 7-10 years. I always look forward to tasting this wine. It's a Napa classic, and it has been for two decades. (95 Points)
