Reviews: Goose Ridge 2017 'g3' Chardonnay and 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Columbia Valley ($15)

I feel like Washington State is kicking out some pretty good Chardonnay these days, and the Goose Ridge 20017 g3 Chardonnay Columbia Valley, WA entry from a family owned estate vineyard is a pretty good example. It's not marred by cheap oak products, has good concentration and body with pretty pineapple, pear, hazelnut, and vanilla notes. At this price, it's a pretty good deal! Recommended. (89 Points)

The Goose Ridge g3 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Columbia Valley, WA ($15) seemed a bit blocky and hard-to-read on the evening that I opened it, but when I came back to it the next day it seemed more expressive with pretty blueberry highlights, some deep currant flavors and a bit of cinnamon spice on the finish. It's nice to try a red that doesn't go to pieces overnight, and it suggests this one might age reasonably well. (88 Points)
