Review: The Debate Beckstoffer To Kalon Cabernet Sauvignon

The Debate 2012 Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley ($  ) This one comes from the famed To Kalon Vineyard that was once part of the original Robert Mondavi estate in Oakville, Napa Valley. Loaded with supple, deep black currant fruit, hints of dried sage or madrone, hints of vanilla and licorice from nice French oak barrels, and a nice dusty, gravelly minerality that keeps it on point. It's a beautiful, complex and delicious wine, but its slip shows somewhat in the alcoholic finish, and I docked it a couple of points for that. This vintage received 100 points from Robert Parker, so it appears to be selling for around $400 a bottle (1) 15.9% alcohol  94 Points
