Western Oz Cabernet

I consider myself a big fan of Western Australian Cabernet, especially the best from Margaret River. To me, the moderately warm climate makes for clean wines with great focus, a slick, nimble quality and fresh fruit. This lightly-oaked 2010 James Oatley Tic Tok Cabernet is a steal for $14. it comes from Robert Oatley Vineyards, where winemaking is overseen by veteran Chris Hancock. This is the same team that brought you all of those wonderful Rosemount Diamond Label bargains through the 1990's. It's a crying shame that these cooler-climate Aussie wines are often overlooked.
